People Quit Today

Lou invited Rocky and I over for cookies and cream ice cream. Rocky ate until he couldn't eat anymore and I thought he had a bottomless pit stomach. Well, he ate a lot.

Lou's wife recently died in the spring, they had been married for 60 years. He said he was always the one getting sick and she never got sick and the one time she does, it killed her. They met when he was 17, her father who didn't think much of Lou cancelled their wedding at the church without them knowing. He went to see the priest and the priest told him his wedding has been cancelled and that he refused to book anymore wedding for that day because he felt it was a bad day for weddings. The reason being Lou's wedding was the second wedding that got cancelled for that date. So a few days later they eloped.

Lou recollected on when they dated, she would show up with swells on her body from her father's beatings just because he saw fit. He said she had it really hard when she was young. So he spent his entire life trying to make sure she got whatever she wanted, wether it was shopping, trips, etc.. he never said no to her and encouraged her instead.

He said they had one thing they agreed on when they married which was to never go to sleep angry. So they would talk it out and work it out before going to sleep and not carry it into the next day. He said this worked until the kids came along. He said the kids were instigators and there would be a lot of confusion between them. Lou said, people today quit too easily.

When his wife's mother died, Lou suggested the father who didn't treat Lou so nice to come and live with them because none of his kids wanted to take him in. That was amazing to hear. Lou had a big enough of heart to do that. He lived with them for 8 years. When Lou's father died, he also invited his mother to live with them and at one point there was four of them in the house. His mother and her father found company in each other.

Lou said he was told about Golden Years and so he did his best in working two jobs to prepare for their Golden Years. But now their Golden Years is just him, all alone in a 5 bedroom double story house, and his money that's all gonna go to his children. He said people have a misunderstanding about the golden years. There is nothing golden about the golden years. This stops working, that starts to fail. The medication, the smell, the lack of control, the embarrassment, the shame, and the choice of isolation and terrible loneliness. To Lou, there is nothing golden about the golden years.

Cupertino Farmer's Market

After waffles we went to Cupertino Village Farmer's Market at Vallco Fashion Park. It is Rocky's first farmer's market experience. I made sure he had plenty of peach, plum, bread samples. Grace was with me along with Chihalu.

Veggie Corn Dog at Valley Fair

I have discovered Veggie corn dog at Valley Fair. I love corn dog. I don't know why I haven't noticed they had veggie hot dog here, I guess I just assumed they didn't, I have been missing out. I shall make up for lost time.

Our first massage, pedi and manicure together. My feet does like getting attention. This is addictive, can become a regular habit.

I wanted mermaid feet so I got a mermaid looking color with sparkles, red. Now I can't go swimming, I don't want to ruin the paint job.

Falafal

It was soooo hot today, I just wanted to go somewhere to sit and be in A/C without feeling pressed to pay my bill and then get off my seat to make room for others to sit. So I finally decided to step into what was Pizza Hut now Falafal House to try it out.

I used to work here when it was Pizza Hut and it was a take out and delivery place only. I had wanted to be hired to make pizza because I thought it would be fun. Well, I was having so much fun that I wasn't very fast. I took joy in spreading the sauce on like paint on canvas and sprinkling the cheese on just right. I took a greater joy in putting each piece of the topping on in particular designs of my mood for the moment. I was too slow, the manager thought. But they did hire me, at 16 I was placed in the coveted job of answering the phone, taking order and money. Although I had the job that everyone wanted, I actually wanted everyone else's job. There were rumblings of resentment from other workers who had been there for months and had plenty of experience and felt they should have been promoted to the phone. The manager was aware of the disgruntle opinions of the staff and made it to be known and clear publicly that it would only take me, one person to be on the phone instead of having 3 people on the phone. I was so new to work force, I had no idea what that all meant, I was happy to be at a job and getting paid and looking forward to making my own personal pan pizza everyday for break and decorating the toppings in the fashion of smilie face or whatever I was in the mood for. It was then that I developed a lack of interest for pizza because I smelled it and ate it everyday. It was then that I developed a habit of not wanting to carry the smell of food in my clothes. It was then that my sense of smell had a loud voice.

Joan Baez

A walk in the Stern Grove eucalyptus woods is also something I enjoy.

Love going to Stern Grove and listening to good music and picnic all day and run into friends. Joan Baez is a lovely singer. I really like her work. One of the ones I heard tonight is by her pianist "Just the way you are".

So not awake yet, just rolled of bed.

Lunch, I like to make my food into art, any time I can use a star shape cutter, heart shape mold, I do. The mushroom salad was a surprise hit. Home grown figs.

Bob and Henri, we help each other keep our seats as the park was closed at 12pm, it was already packed. People scrambled to find a spot to park themselves. Bob got here at 6:30 to park his spot for his party. Then went home for breakfast and came back with papers at 8:30am to hold the fort.

This is Genevive who is from NY and can't believe how friendly every one is in CA. I think every one I've come across who is from NY say this.

Paper picnic plate for hat, multi purpose, very green.

Burning hot, weather forecast said, cloudy and foggy, what happened? I was so not prepared for the sun. It rarely stays sunny the whole 4 hours, usually just in spots of 10 to 20 minutes max. I had to get creative and put something over my head to keep my face from turning lobster red.

4 People Same Birthday

I know 4 people born on this day June 29, along with my mom. So we had to so a 4 day celebration for each person instead of all lumping it into one. For her birthday we went to Maggiano's Little Italy.
Then we went for a stroll in Santanna Row. Ellie and I switched on of our slippers and walked in each other's shoe and still walked in our own.

So cute, just so cute, do they really have to grow up?
