Jennifer Berezan

Went to have Korean food with my brother Mike and sister Helen. It was fun. I finally got a shot of the cold noodles before I dug in this time. It was very delicious.

In the evening I went to Teance and Jennifer Berezan was there too along with Rev. Heng Sure for Tea and Talk. She sang her song, "She Carries Me". This song makes me cry too. So I cried and cried tonight.

Injera and Berbere

Helen came by with paint and we painted the house in two tone. It was fun to paint to Bon Jovi classics.

I went to an Ethiopian place in Campbell, Selam for dinner and photographed the recipe for Injera and Berbere sauce that is on the covers of the menu.

Alice's Now and Zen

I got to Sharon Meadow around 9am. I was surprised to find parking nearby. It was really great. This was the early morning line to get in. Richy my neighbor was really awesome. He offered to run when the gates open and claim a good spot in front of the stage. How could I refused such a great offer. He did pick a wonderful spot 10 feet from the stage by the left speaker. Surprised at how the speakers didn't bother me at all. The sound was nice.

The VIP reception area. The place was packed with heads, they had considered closing the park due to overflow. Now and Zen was free this year, that was really good. All my neighbors took really good care of me and we had a silent understanding to take care of each other's space. We also shared food with each other. David didn't seem like he was coming, the snacks I packed for him, I ended up sharing with everyone around me. I sang from 11am to 5pm along with everyone around me to all the songs played. I had so much fun.

Train was great. Someone fainted and all the security jumped the stage fence to pull her out of the crowd. Four girls were selected and pulled from the crowd to sing on stage as the Trainettes.

Colbie Caillat is so great live. I love Colbie. Check out her Colbie Caillat is so great live. I love Colbie. Check out her beautiful guitars.

Howie Day also played and one of my favorites, Collide.

Dashboard Confessional, is my new love. They were awesome live. I'm gonna have to check them out when they are back in the area for concerts.

David finally showed up when the last act was on but there was so much crowd that he couldn't get to me till every one left. We went to New Ganges Indian Restaurant to eat for dinner. I didn't care for the good much there, it was disappointing. But the Hispanic server brought me unlimited pappas and she barely spoke English. I ran through me head trying to recall the 5 years of Spanish I learned to communicate with her if necessary. But I didn't want to her feel insulted by her English so I just smiled and let it be.

Pumpkin Escape

I was early and David hadn't arrived yet so I had a breakfast at Starbucks and headed over to Berkeley Bowl to pick out pumkins for the holidays. It was only 8am, it's a good thing the pumpkins were outside so I could get a head start on picking out pumpkins before the 9am opening.

I came across the bread delivery guy from Acme bread who is from Guatamala. He and I chatted about how to use pumpkins. He told me from his homwtown they carve the top lid and clean out the seeds then put a sugar brick into the pumkin, close the lid and bake until the inside is soft and carmalized. That sounded really good.  So the baker taught me how to make pumpkins Guatamala style.

When it was close to opening time I stood in line in front of the doors along with the Rockridge crowd who seems to gather here just like this every Saturday morning. We exchanged Halloween party, decoration, sound effect, trick or treating ideas. It was a great fun way to start the day.

Ah.... David, my man finally shows up and after lunch he was my escape ride. We escaped to Teance and drank tea and chatted for 6 hours. That wasn't enough, they closed and we continued to Asmara Ethiopian Restaurant to hang out. I didn't care for the food as much there, a bit disappointing. But it was quiet and we had our own booth so that we could chat more. Chatting more at a place that closed late was our goal, not really dinner.

Acapulco Lunch Buffet

Helen and I went to have Mexican lunch buffet at Acapulco. We were late to pick up Lena by 5 minutes from her Pre-School. She was not the last one to be picked up but she was pouty about it. Very cute and Helen, a wonderful mother did what she could to turn the upside down smile into right side up.

Mexican Buffet

I decided to skip Indian for lunch today, although I almost pulled over to India Sate just to check it out for the first time. But I stayed on course, it was gonna be Acapulco or El Torito lunch buffet. I thought I would try El Torito for the first time. I have to say they have different flavors in their salsa. Acapulco's lunch buffet is served with corn tortilla which I love, hand made right in front of you. It taste really good. They also have a wider selection on their buffet bar like 3 times more and a dessert bar. At El Torito, the food was good but the selection wasn't very wide, it could be I failed to see the first part of the buffet name "Fajita Buffet" hence there was fajita choices and enchilada, beans, rice, salad, sweet corn cake to accompany. Now that I know, I will pick Acapulco off Lawrence Expressway instead, it's $8.49 while El Torito is $8.99. Actually my goal today was Ethiopian food but decided to be adventurous and try out El Torito Buffet for the first time. I have to say the Fajita for meat lovers looked great! But none for me, no thanks! hm... what shall I eat tomorrow?

I also talked to Naji for the first time online with video camera. The whole time he couldn't see me and didn't bother to mention it. I saw him. Towards the end he finally told me he can't see me. I failed to click on the video icon. When I did, video was on. But the sound went off. I have no idea what's going on. Will have to fix it next time. Missed Naji, he showed me his place, it looked really nice, even his parked car and his mail ordered work out equipment. He even did pull ups with his new pull up bar. Cool, now that I can see him, I can watch him box some more!

I tried to pick up Lena and Helen today from San Jose. Helen jogged to Rainbow Park while Lena rode her bike without training wheel and packed snacks and drinks on her pack for the park. I figured they'd be tired. Well, the little one was but she insisted that she wanted to take the bus home instead of riding in my car. I saw her lay on the bus bench tired and refusing to change her mind to wait for the bus to come. It's a big deal to ride the bus with your new pink princess no training wheel bike as a 4 year old. Helen patiently with nurture, waited for the bus to let Lena manifest her choice of a bus ride. What a good mother she is! It was already 1:30pm, and the bus still hadn't arrived and they haven't had any lunch yet. I tried to lure Lena into frozen yogurt, ice cream etc... but she proved with determination that she shall not be moved, even if she needed to lay on the public wooden bus bench while she waited for the bus. The little girl has will power. She's tough!

Madhuban Lunch Buffet

Went to Madhuban Indian Restaurant in Sunnyvale today for lunch or more like my one meal for the day. It was delicious. People are very nice there. You never get the feeling that you are being rushed. The workers are really good at making sure your cup is filled, your nan basket is full, your empty plate is removed, and your check given to you at the right time so you don't feel rushed. The classic wooden Indian decore is very nice too.

The house is getting the floor sanded with new finishing. Can't walk on it for a week. I will have to eat out every day for a week. Well the last time I ate out every day was for 5 months traveling in Asia. Every meal was surprising delicious except for Tibet.

I was wondering how many days of Indian food I can take. But then again I ate Indian food everyday in India. Infact, I stayed in India just to eat, North, South, East, West, totally different, all very delicious. Who knows, I might actually last? What else is good to eat in South Bay? Hm.......... I'll have to venture around and keep you informed.

Wonder Power! Activate!

Hung out with friends at the monastery. Louie got topped off with a top hat today, the official monastery mascot. Max and Julia were both around and so was David. It was fun to hang out with everybody. David and I had to explain Wonder Twins and their powers to the younger generation. They had no idea and not even heard of Wonder Power Twins. I miss classic cartoons of Smurfs, Old Looney Toons, the Hannah Barbara shows, the super action heros including Wonder Woman in her invisible plane, and Pop Eye. Then we went into tough super hero attitude training. Julia successfully did a hero pump. Max laughed the whole time and smiled sweetly. All that fun had to be followed by fluffy, soft, syrupy pancake. Yum!

Paul's Thirteenth Birthday

Paul's 13th birthday. He is now officially a teenager. Soon, he will be too cool to be hugged by his aunt, me. I better hug him as much as I can before that day arrives. It was pretty hot today, sure felt like triple digits to me. Didn't bake a cake or pie, crazy to use the kitchen oven in this heat. Decided to do frozen yogurt at Yogurt Land instead. We all went to surprise him for his no party birthday party. Well, we brought the party to him instead. I brought candles for the tub of frozen yogurt but forgot the lighter. He complained that he is too old for birthday songs and birthday wishes. Hm...... gonna have to change his reality. I shall find a way. The girls got all dressed up and dolled up for his celebration. They looked so pretty in their sun dresses. Then we went back to Paul's place and played wii. I have to say Brawl is addictive. I like all the characters and choices of backdrop. I think they took what worked so well in street fighter and up'd it galactic style. It was a fun evening.
