Spring Cleaning

It's a beautiful day. I really want to go hiking or just go out and feel the sun but I didn't want to drive anywhere. So I decided to just take a walk around the neighborhood and check out people's gardens. This weekend is spring cleaning in our street and once a year we get to put out all our stuff on the street and the city will pick it up. It's also an official help yourself time if you see something you like. The streets are full of pick up trucks and people scouting for goods. There are many things that are good for picking up. People also use this time to put out large greens from trimmed trees. I saw a beautiful drawer. I enjoy artwork like this. Too bad I don't need a drawer with beautiful artwork.

Taken a liking to macro photography.

Santa Clara Valley Camellia Society

These camellias are from local growers. The exhibition and competition is held at Santa Clara community center.

This is my first time at a camellia show. I had no idea there would be so many wonderful entries.

I see the difference in the rank of categories in terms of competition grades. But in each I see the unique beauty and characteristics.

I find it very healing to look at flowers. It's just amazing how much beauty surrounds me everyday created by nature.

I realized that when I look at flowers like artwork I really don't care to make small talk with any one as one would in a art gallery or museum. But I kept bumping into people who came for various reasons with someone else and they were more interested in chatting to fill up the silence than looking at the flowers. I decided to chuck out social etiquette and ignore people. I actually ran out of juice in my battery for pictures and had to leave.

Santa Clara Valley Orchid Society Flower Show

I love orchids, they are low maintenance and they bloom for a long time.

They are also very durable and will respond to healing and reviving after drowning in too much water or near death dehydration.

They also come in all sorts of colors and patterns and shapes.

They can also be very fragrant.

This is the time for orchid shows and I went to one at a local mall in Westgate. This one did not charge an entrance fee. It was small compared to the one in San Francisco Fort Maison. But it had enough of a variety to enjoy. These are from Santa Clara Valley local growers.

Thanks Giving Family Portraits

It's been awhile since I photographed my family in any professional work and this was long overdue. Half of the family was missing though, out of the country. But it was the best Thanksgiving week I've had since, I can't remember, I don't ever recalling to be this good.

Lena, my niece, always up to something, always ready for a good laugh.

Ellie my sweet niece always inquisitive, nothing escapes her eyes.

The latest edition to our family, Chiharu-Thousands of Sunshine

My awesome nephews Naoki and Paul
