Nap? Meditation? or High Mountain Tea!

I was tired and it was only 3 in the afternoon. I desparately needed a nap, some good rest. I had to choose between a nap of which I may just pass out till the next day as I have been known to do. Or meditate and pass out in pain and wake up refreshed but contorted body in pain. Or I can drink my magic cure all tea, High Mountain Tea. I went for the tea, sure enough by the 3rd cup, I was buzzed. In fact I was buzzed for the next 13 hours till 4am. But it wasn't one of those hang in there jittery buzz. I was wired, awake, and felt really good.

Badminton was fun tonight. I spent my time training my eyes to watch the bird. Tonight the bird seemed not so fast. That's a good sign, the game is slowing down in my eyes so I can see where to move. I wasn't even tired after 3 hours of playing. Well, I wasn't playing very hard, I focused on watching and following the bird with my eyes and part of the time my body failed to move or failed to move fast like my eyes,.... totally out of sync!

So being so awake even after my afternoon coma and evening workout, I decided I'd bake holiday cookies at midnight. I stopped a little after 2am and was still awake and wired. When 4am rolled around I decided I needed to try to get some rest since I will be meeting some friends in Berkeley and doing a bunch of shopping.

Airing out Badminton Feet

I arrived at 8pm and all the courts were full. There were players on the side seats airing out their hot feet from playing. These are serious players. There were some serious games going on. They were good to watch. These groups, they just keep going all night till they lights are shut off and they get kicked out. Really amazing to watch. Tonight was fun. I got some of my court movement back. My body felt light, but I was having lots of trouble with accuracy and timing. I need more practice. I had lots of fun using games to work on some moves that I needed to get back in touch with. People really take winning seriously here. I am just happy to be on the court and getting some of my moves back. It's like a dance more so than competition.

Affinity Badminton

Was invited to play Badminton today. I loved playing badminton, and soccer. I played girls singles in high school. Went to tournaments too. I stopped playing badminton when I became vegetarian. I learned the racket strings are made with cat gut or something like that. Plus the feather on the shuttle cock is from birds. I also stopped playing soccer because I didn't want to kill bugs for my entertainment on the grass.

I really missed playing badminton. It was nice of XueJun to invite me to play with his coworkers. They were friendly and showed mercy to my out of shape rusty moves and the court running was definitely a struggle. But by the end of 2nd hour of playing, I feel like I revived the badminton spirit in me. I feel if I keep up with this it'll all come back in a few months. Gotta work on my court foot work though. I had so much fun today. Looking forward to playing more badminton soon.
